Our correspondent noticed during the visit that the world of Opobo’s notable past appears to be quickly disappearing.
How badly the town had failed to preserve its illustrious past was made clear by a stroll to the location of the house where the great King Jaja, the town’s founder, once resided. The majority of the structure might still have been “alive” today, even though it may not have been possible for it to be entirely intact due to age and lack of reorganization or support. The original structure is now reduced to a few iron pillars tightly holding onto block fragments.
