As he got ready to enroll in Eton, the esteemed independent boarding school for boys, 13-year-old Tokunbo Akintola, the son of Samuel Ladoke Akintola, said goodbye to his pals from his previous school.
In 1964, this was the start of his disastrous path. Tokunbo tragically died in 1973, four years after attending Eton, at the age of 22. Because he was the first Black African student at Eton, he was subjected to constant bullying, according to historical reports. His experiences there had a profound effect on his mental health.
